Pharmaceutical companies charge excessive prices for COVID-19 vaccines as rich countries block the quickest and cheapest route to global vaccination.
The People's Vaccine Alliance (PVA) with UNAIDS and 70 other organizations, including Oxfam and Emergency, published a report that the big pharmaceutical companies (Big Pharma) would profit heavily on the production of the vaccines.
Italy could have paid 4 billion euros less. Covax, (the WHO institution that cares about the supply of vaccines to poor countries), could have saved 20 billion euros less.
